We are currently seeking qualified applicants for certified assistant, veterinary assistant and technician assistant positions. 

Assistant duties will include but are not limited to; assisting the veterinarians and/or technicians in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery, in-patient and out-patient care, technician examinations, laboratory duties, treatments, surgery duties, dentistry, medical record notation, hospital housekeeping, administrative duties, inventory, OSHA awareness and compliance, extraordinary customer service and maintaining a practical knowledge of the hospitals procedures, services and policies.  The expected manner of every team member is to maintain a professional demeanor, use appropriate medical terminology, support practice management and fellow team members at all times.


  • Bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, standing/walking on vinyl, concrete or tile floor up to 10 hours a day while typing, writing, balancing, twisting, squatting and rotating throughout the day.
  • Lifting animals up to 50 pounds, and lifting animals over 50 pounds with help, and moving animals from cage to cage, floor to floor, and room to room. Restraining animals up to 200 pounds intermittently, 
  • Understanding of animal behavior and ability to recognize patient body language in the application of patient care. 
  • Excellent reading/comprehension/legible writing skills

    • Maintain a level of alertness to keep safe from possible danger.
    • Follow the ethical guidelines of the veterinary profession and the core values of Indian River Veterinary Hospital.
    • Possess a keen observation for and desire to provide outstanding patient care.
    • Make rational and effective decisions, problem solve and maintain composure in a variety of working conditions.
    • Come to work prepared and willing to offer assistance and to ask for assistance when needed.
    • Keep a positive professional appearance and outlook.
    • Maintain a team mentality by abstaining from gossip/negative observations regarding clients/team members or other professionals or other behavior that can impact the healthy foundation of a team.
    • Attend staff meetings, participate in hospital functions like open house, community efforts and special events.

Hours: Full and part-time positions available based on need. 

Compensation based on experience and availability.
